WHAT IS REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE?

Renewal of the earth

Regenerative agriculture is an approach that not only produces food — it renews the land, increases soil fertility, and restores the natural balance of ecosystems. This vision has been promoted for years by Joel Salatin, an American farmer known for his innovative methods used on his Polyface Farm.

Instead of chemicals and industrial production, Salatin focuses on a life cycle in harmony with nature: animals move in rotational grazing, the soil is continually rebuilt, and every action strengthens natural biological processes. This model shows that agriculture can be both ecological, profitable, and based on respect for the environment.

Harmony with nature for the succession of future generations

Regenerative agriculture in Salatin's approach differs from classical "eco" in that it is not limited to just the absence of chemicals — it actively improves the state of soil, water, and biodiversity.. In practice, this means:

  • restoring soil through composting, mulching, and polyculture,

  • using animals instead of machines (e.g., chickens aerate the soil, cattle fertilize pastures),

  • production systems that create more resources than they consume,

  • food that is local, fresh, and full of nutrients.

This is a model of farming that — as Salatin says — "works with nature, not against it."As a result, the farmer does not deplete the land, but leaves it in better condition for future generations.
